In June 2007 my cousin Mary Raffetto came to visit for two weeks. We're
close like good sisters and it was so, so much fun having her visit! I've
put together a photo scrapbook of the photos we both took that highlight
her visit. What's great is that you will see places a stone's throw from
our house in Biot.

The tone for Mary's visit was set her first day when we went to "Vieux Nice" to the Cours
Salaya for lunch, coffee beans (surprisingly very hard to find in France),
flower and spice shopping, a nice walk up to the Chateau for panoramic views of the Port.

Shopping in Cannes. Shopping focus was on clothes, shoes and purses made by local
or European designers. We shopped our way along the Croisette down to the harbor
stopping for picture with the yachts.

I hired a driver to take us to some of the most spectacular sea views and gardens in
the world. Right up there with Pebble Beach but with weather more like Santa Barbara
or San Diego.

Mary loves anything glittery.
She loved Monaco and the excitement was high at our arrival at the Hotel Hermitage.
Close to prime shopping we took off in search of something glittery.

We headed off at 10 am in the morning and by 12:30 pm we were in St Remy in Provence
at the weekly market. Unfortunately merchants were packing up quickly for lunch so
we only able to procure Marseille soaps and yummy local tapenades and admire colorful
baskets and local sausage displays featuring "sausage de taureau" or bull sausage.

Our next stops were Roussillon, Fontaine de Vaucluse and Isle Sur la Sorgue;
places that I visited as an art student over 20 years ago which left me with an
indelible impression of their natural beauty.

Back in Biot we went up to wander the streets of the medieval village and shop for gifts.
John even joined us one day in the square. We also relaxed at the house while Mary
perfected her Cherry Almond Tart recipe in our newly renovated kitchen.
